Chief Human Resources Officer
Maureen Stewart has been working in Public Health Education since 1994. With over 20 years of experience designing and implementing training sessions, she comes with a wealth of techniques to move willing participants to growth and change. As a training consultant, Maureen has worked with many organizations to hone their skills and to increase knowledge and awareness of staff to meet the ever-changing needs of external and internal consumers. Most recently, she’s been working with organizations to train providers on providing culturally competent care to their clients which would aid in their retention in HIV care, yet she believes and takes plenty of opportunities to extend the cultural competency message beyond public health. Prior to consulting full-time, Maureen served as the Senior Training Specialist at the American Social Health Association directing training activities of the CDC National AIDS, STD, and Immunization Hotlines. Her work has always and continues to focus on healthy decision making, health behavior change for adults and youth and lifelong communication skills needed to make those changes. Maureen believes wholeheartedly that every day is a new day to grow. Change occurs regardless. Growth is what we decide to do with the change. How much we grow depends on our willingness. When you leave training, Maureen wants you to be better than when you walked in the door. Once you know better you can do better and the more you do better then you become a better version of yourself. KNOW. DO. BE. BETTER has become a lifestyle that she and her family embraces.
Maureen and her husband Wayne work hard at ensuring that their children are prepared for the world that awaits them. Julian (15), Sophia (14) and Alaina (9) have a lot to offer the world. They know better. Maureen and Wayne (and the community raising them) guide the Stewart kids (and any other kid that crosses their threshold) to make decisions so they do better based on what they know and then prayers are continually lifted so they will be better than either of us could ever imagine. Maureen lives in Wendell with her husband, three living children, and the family dog, Shadow. Her family means the world to her and she splits her time watching her girls dance, her son playing soccer and her husband coaching. She also helps to look after her 95-year-old grandfather, sings in the family choir, manages her husband’s business and her consulting business, and substitute teaches. Maureen is always looking forward to the next event to plan as people and busy schedules give her life. In those rare moments when she’s not running around, she likes to find a blanket, a corner and a good book for alone time or a spot at the table for some friendly and sometimes not-so-friendly family competition.
